A Collective Memory about the Cultural Heritage of Oberholsten.

This ongoing project, developed during my fourth semester, explores the layers of collective memory and cultural identity in the village of Oberholsten. Rooted in the concept of Erinnerungskultur (Culture of Remembrance), the work connects past and present, aiming to preserve and reflect on local history, traditions, and personal stories. As someone who lived in the village for 15 years, this project is also a personal journey – an effort to understand and engage with a place I call home, but once knew only superficially.

For the project, I added outlines to the fonts to create a subtle bleed effect, evoking a worn, archival aesthetic. The color palette was drawn directly from scanned historical materials, tying the visuals to the content. Abstracted textures from Oberholsten were also integrated to ground the project in the present, linking the past to its still-visible structures.
